Concept
Sahana's collection began at a temple: a visit, a carved facade, and the question of why an outfit could not be inspired by its beauty.
Sahana has wanted to be a designer since childhood. Where most people see temples as symbols of tradition, she saw inspiration, and a reminder that it is fine to be different.
She researched the temple in depth, learning that Hari is Vishnu and Hara is Shiva. She drew motifs from the Ashoka Chakra and the temple carvings, and filled her mood board with divine images and flower motifs devoted to Lord Shiva. She chose cotton to keep a traditional touch while giving the outfits a modern style.
Many of her first designs were not right. She kept at them until the drawings became runway-ready outfits: a blend of culture, creativity and fashion.
